Ironwood getting $103,000 from the Marijuana tax fund

IRONWOOD – The city of Ironwood along with cities, townships and counties across Michigan are sharing $59.5 million in adult-use marijuana tax funds from the 2022 fiscal year. According to the Michigan treasury department eligible Michigan municipalities and counties will soon receive “more than $51,800 for every licensed retail store and microbusiness located within its jurisdiction. More than $1.8 billion dollars from adult-use marijuana sales were collected from 574 licensees throughout the state in 2022. Gogebic County has 2 licensed retail stores both in the city of Ironwood as a result the city is expected to receive $103,682. State officials’ say payments will be distributed in the coming days.
