Iron County District Attorney Matthew Tingstad not facing charges.

HURLEY – Iron County’s District Attorney is not facing charges after an investigation into two cases he prosecuted. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that investigation stemmed from a subpoena issued by District Attorney Matthew Tingstad to a lawyer representing a bank in a civil case that was connected to charges filed against Hurley’s former mayor and a retired sheriff’s deputy. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation and recommended bringing charges but a special prosecutor decided not to take those steps instead referring Tingstad to the Office of Professional Liability. Tingstad had been running unopposed for Iron County District Attorney until local attorney Douglas Muskett announced earlier this week that he would be running as a write-in candidate in the August 11^th primary election.  Muskett must receive 200 write-in votes to be in the general election where he will face Tingstad in the November election.
