Grass instead of colored and stamped concrete in Bessemer

Written by on May 19, 2022

BESSEMER – Bessemer DDA say no to decorative Concrete Along US 2, MDOT will Plant Grass instead.  At the meeting of the Bessemer Downtown Development Authority, the agenda was to have included discussion of laying colored and stamped concrete along U.S. 2 from Mill to Peck Street. The concrete option was preferable to the idea of grass along that strip. Turns out, the DDA doesn’t have the jurisdiction to implement such a project, and even if it did, the DDA can’t spend any money that hasn’t been included in its annual plan. Mayor Adam Zak said council member Terry Kryshak and city manager Charly Loper put a lot of investigation into the subject and that’s when the issues were discovered. The MDOT will plant grass in those areas. The second year of construction in Bessemer will be getting underway in the next few weeks detours around the construction will begin on May 31st
