Clear snow from gas meters and vents

Piping and appliance vents should be kept clear of snow, and as you get closer to the equipment, use a broom or an alternative rather than a shovel to avoid damaging the meter. Snow or ice can cause damage if it slides off the roof onto equipment. Electric meters covered with snow may cause power outages and other potential hazards. If you smell gas, call the gas company immediately. Report power outages to your electric utility to initiate restoration as quickly as possible.
