LAC DU FLAMBEAU – Class Action Lawsuit Filed in Lac du Flambeau Standoff. Tribal council members of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians have been named in a federal class action lawsuit on behalf of more that 20 property owners along or near Annie Sunn Lane, Center Sugarbush Lane, East Ross Allen Lake Lane and Elsie Lake Lane as a result of the barricade situation that started at the end of January. Property owners have been stuck in the middle of the dispute between the tribe, title insurance companies, the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and the town of Lac du Flambeau. The Lakeland Times reports the only thing the suit and the landowners are requesting is that the roads open and remain open and the only reason the suit was filed is due to no communication from tribal officials.
