Bessemer Votes to Support Copper Peak Refurbishment

BESSEMER – City of Bessemer Votes to Support Copper Peak Refurbishment…A resolution to support Copper Peak as an asset to the Gogebic Range and Western Upper Peninsula was passed by the Bessemer City Council on Monday. Mayor Adam Zak said that the board of directors for Copper Peak lacks about $4 million towards beginning to refurbish the ski jump that was built in Ironwood Township in 1969. The ski jump has been closed since 1994, and recently a $20 million state grant to remodel the jump into the only all-season ski flying hill to be sued for training and international competitions. Mayor Zak said the board of Copper Peak intends to continue to seek the additional funding to make sure the project is completed.
