Another jump in local COVID-19 cases.

HURLEY – Iron County seeing another large jump in COVID-19 cases.  The Iron County Health Department is reporting a total of 57 positive COVID-19 cases Saturday.  Results coming from last weeks testing event increasing the number of confirmed cases.  Iron County Health officials as asking residents to answer their phones from a 608 area code.  Numbers from that area code are being used for contact tracing health officials say they will make 3 attempts to call.  Interviews and contact tracing is completed by Iron County Health Department staff on all positive cases.  If a person who tested positive for COVID-19 was out in public during their potential time of communicability, this could have resulted in exposure for others.  Iron County now surpassing Gogebic County in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases.  The Michigan Department of Health reporting 51 cases in Gogebic County with 2 in Ontonagon County as of this morning.  If you develop symptoms isolate yourself and call your health care provider.   The health department recommends the public stay at home as much as possible and avoid travel outside of your community.  The U.P. now has a total of 418 confirmed cases during since the start of the outbreak.
