HURLEY – Iron County paid employees in most cases won’t need to have to use their own vehicles when traveling outside the local area for county business, after the Iron County Board of Supervisors’ finance committee recommended purchasing two Jeep Cherokee Latitudes. The two county vehicles are expected to cost around $22,000 apiece. Based on information presented at previous committee meetings, the purchase is expected to be less than the county spends paying for mileage each year. The purchase is designed to reduce the amount of money the county pays in mileage for work trips county employees take elsewhere in the state. These trips include attending conferences and for training. The decision to purchase the two vehicles still needs to be approved by the full county board.
