Fish stocking operation delayed

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The DNR says this winter was one of the coldest of the last five years, and that has delayed their fish stocking operation. The normal stocking season begins April 1, but the cold weather has pushed that back about a week and a half. DNR officials say its always hard to predict a U.P. winter, but even the Lower Peninsula is delayed. Officials say even though they are behind, anglers shouldn’t worry. Officials say they will begin stocking in Pontiac downstate on Monday, but they don’t have a date set for U.P. lakes.
