Written by Jesse Baroka on February 7, 2019
Heavy snow expected this afternoon into tonight. Tonight through Friday, lake effect snow and blowing snow will result in sharply reduced visibilities. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches expected this afternoon and tonight, with locally higher amounts possible over the higher terrain from the Porcupine Mountains and up through the Keweenaw Peninsula. Additional snow amounts of 2 to 5 inches are expected late tonight through Friday. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph tonight into Friday will result in blowing snow and sharply reduced visibilities. Cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero on Friday could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
