A sexual assault victim services federal grant has been awarded to DOVE, in Ironwood by the Victims of Crime Act to be used for services to sexual assault victims in Gogebic County. The $67,000 grant with expected increases later this year will allow DOVE to enhance victim services in Gogebic County by hiring a full-time sexual assault victim advocate and a full-time sexual assault response team coordinator. DOVE will also be setting up a network with local agencies to begin the process of developing a Sexual Assault Response Team. The state of Michigan has strengthened its fight against sexual assault with implementation of the grants to coincide with a statewide crisis line system.
