BESSEMER – Snowmobilers have been hitting the trails here on the Gogebic Range in Force.  Area hotels are reporting many visitors with snowmobile trailers here in the local area and the recent snow is good news for visitors.  The Gogebic Range Trail Authority began grooming  fresh snow over the weekend to form the base of its snowmobile trails system.  On Friday, it snowed about 3.5 inches, then rained for 45 minutes, before another 3 to 5 inches of snow arrived.  Be aware Trail 11S has closed due to deep ruts from loggers who attempted to access property via the trail.  Trail 2, from Hurley to the Ramsay U.S. 2 crossing, was in the best early season shape across the trail system Friday, but the corners were icy east of Walmart.  On the Wisconsin side trail conditions in the Hurley area continue to improve with an additional snow over the last few days.  White Thunder Riders report 3 groomers running and Conditions are FAIR to GOOD throughout the Northern Iron County Trail system.  Be aware all of Trail 3, And Trail 13 (south), from the Hogsback east/south to 310 Road remain close.   Vilas County officially opens their trails Saturday, Conditions are Early Season. Riders are asked to Exercise CAUTION.  Riders PLEASE: SLOW down, STAY right, STAY together. STAY on the trail and don’t STEAL trail signs. Remember to STOP and look at road crossings and have a safe New Years Holiday.
